Passages in the Old Testament prophesize about Jesus Christ's resurrection. Compare Genesis 3:15 with 1 John 3:8. A dead man would not be able to "destroy the works of the devil" or "bruise his head." Review Psalm Chapter 16, Verses 8-11, and then the Acts of the Apostles (Acts), Chapter 2, Verses 24-28. David states that the Holy One shall not "see corruption." Moses says in Deuteronomy 18:15-19 that God will raise up a Prophet from among us and that we are to obey His commands or face judgment from God. See Isaiah Chapter 53:10 and John Chapter 1:29. Here is a reference to a man who suffered death but came back to see new life. These and many other Biblical passages in the Old Testament foretell of the Son of Man, the Son of God, God made flesh to come, die for our sins, and be reborn (resurrected) to take his place at His Father's side.

Christ prophesied that He would be tortured, die, and be resurrected three days after his death. See Matthew 3:40; Mark 8:31and John 2:19, 20. Certainly Jesus the Christ would be aware of His fate, of His impending suffering, death, and resurrection. How many people have we met who would be brave enough to tell us that after they die they will come up out of the grave? Only a person who raised the dead would be able to deliver on this promise. Christ raised the dead on at least three occasions, as documented in the first four books of the New Testament (the Gospels of Jesus Christ).

The angels announced Christ's resurrection after He rose from the dead.Reflect on the Gospels passages Matthew Chapter 28, Verses 1 to 8, Mark Chapter 16, Verses 1 to 8, and Luke Chapter 24, Verses 1 to 9. There you will read of the women who return to Christ's grave three days after His death to find that His body was gone. When they were there, angels told them that Jesus had been resurrected from the dead. While the accounts vary a bit between the three Gospel passages, each of which were written at different times by different authors, the message is the same. Carefully reviewing these Gospel passages will illuminate the reason for the slight variances between them.

A number of people saw Christ risen from the dead after being placed in the grave. See 1 Corinthians Chapter 15, Verses 5-8, for one report of several hundred who saw Jesus after He rose from the dead. When they heard the first report of Christ Jesus' resurrection, the disciples did not believe it. Christ appeared to people after His resurrection for 40 days before He ascended into heaven. After this Christ appeared and witnessed to Saul of Tarsus, converting him to Paul, and He appeared to John the apostle.

Today, as through all of time, Jesus Christ is alive and with us. He will never die again. He is the same in our day and age as He was when He walked the dusty roads and paths of Israel. The Christ who did wonderful things for people back then is today still able to do things things for us.
